Inviting clients via email or link
Skip the data entry. Send your customer a link, and they fill in their own info and drop a card on file.
The fastest way to get a new client fully set up (contact info and a card on file) is to let them do it themselves. Mowzey gives every customer record a one-tap invite link. They click it, fill out a short form, and you get a complete customer profile with a payment method already attached. No more chasing card numbers over the phone.
Create a stub customer first
You need a customer record to attach the invite to. The minimum is a name (see Adding clients manually). If you have an email or phone number already, drop those in too. The customer can correct anything you got wrong during onboarding.
Pro tip
Sending the invite
- Email it. Sends a branded email from your business name with the link inside. Requires that the customer has an email on file.
- Copy link. Drops a URL on your clipboard. Paste it into a text message, WhatsApp, or however you usually reach this customer.
What your customer sees
They click the link and land on a Mowzey-hosted page branded with your business name. The form asks for:
- Name, email, and phone (pre-filled if you provided any of these)
- Billing address
- Service address, if different from billing
- A credit or debit card, entered through a secure Stripe card field
Submitting the form saves their info to your customer record and attaches the card as their default payment method. Future invoices from you can charge that card on file (or send for manual pay) without any more back and forth.
How long the link is good for
The invite link is a magic-link token that expires 14 days after you send it. After that, the link returns an "expired" page. This is a security measure: a leaked link from six months ago should not still grant access to add cards to a customer record.
If the link expires before the customer fills it out, just open their profile and click Send invite link again. A fresh token is issued and the old one is permanently invalidated.
Good to know
After your customer completes the form
The Pending invite badge disappears and the customer profile updates with whatever they entered. You will see a Card on file indicator in the payment section.
You can now charge their card directly when you invoice them, or set them up on a recurring subscription. Either way, you do not need to ask them for the card again.
If something goes wrong
Customer says they did not get the email. Check spam first. The email comes from a Mowzey-managed address on your behalf, so it sometimes lands in promotions. If still missing, copy the link instead and send it via text.
Link says "expired." It has been more than 14 days. Resend a fresh invite from the customer profile.
Customer's card was declined. They will see a Stripe error message in the form. Suggest they try a different card or contact their bank. The form will not submit until a card is accepted, so their info will not be lost.
